Summer Fun in Breckenridge

When the snow melts the summer action heats up, both literally and figuratively, in Breckenridge. The song “Closing Time” said it best. Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end, and that’s how we feel at Lodge by the Blue about the ski season ending and summer activities getting underway.

Here are a few of the awesome things you can do this summer, courtesy of GoBreck.com.

Whitewater Rafting

Bring your adventurous side on vacation because some of the best whitewater rafting you’ll find is in the Arkansas River, just a short drive from Lodge by the Blue. It’s a phenomenal way to make a splash and enjoy the beauty of the Rockies. Brown’s Canyon, Clear Creek, Numbers, the Colorado River and Blue River are all other great options for your whitewater rafting adventure.

Fly Fishing

Breckenridge Fly Fishing
Get out on the water for a peaceful day of fly fishing.

So serene and peaceful, fly fishing is an opportunity to wade into the rivers and lakes around Breckenridge and maybe even catch the native cutthroat trout. With so many destinations within an hour of downtown, it’ll be the perfect excursion for the day on your vacation. Lower Mohawk Lake provides beautiful views and a wonderful way to spend your day in the water.

Hiking

Hiking is one of Breckenridge’s most popular summer activities, and the trails range from perfect for beginners to experts. The hardest part, aside from the actual hike, is picking the right trail. For the beginners, Sapphire Point and Indiana Creek are highly recommended. For those looking for more of a challenge, Quandary Peak, Wheeler National Recreation Trail, Peak 8 Summit and Peaks Trail are all good bets for breathtaking views and a little bit of exercise.

Golfing

Hit the links at the Breckenridge Golf Club, a course designed by Jack Nicklaus himself.

With gorgeous mountains as the backdrop, Breckenridge offers some of the most glorious views you’ll find on the course. Breckenridge Golf Club is a 27-hole course that is one of the few Jack Nicklaus designed municipal golf courses in the world, so take your swings where the Golden Bear would want you to. Whatever your score, golfing here is a hole in one.

That’s just a sampling of the summer fun you can have at Breckridge when you join as at Lodge by the Blue this year. Come check out all the area has to offer.
